i have the 5.3 liter v8, just wondering if anyone here with this engine has put either a glasspack or a cherry bomb on their truck.(are they the same thing?) its just the muffler right? i just want something cheap, and easy to do in my garage, but make it sound a little better than stock. thanks guys!

I'd like to know too. I had a 4.6 F150 one time with a 18" glass pack. It sounded mellow and somewhat normal at idle and did not pop or crack under normal driving conditions. I am sure the cats kept the system quiet and it was a small motor. It was also mild inside since the surface area of the glass pack was so small and most of the sound was going straight out the back instead of resonating upward.

I have a 5.3 now and I am wondering if I would get similar results with the 3 cats and a glass pack or it it would be too loud and pop all the time.

i have dual glasspacks on my 04 sierra and absolutly love em. when i lean into the throttle they give me some good aggressive tone but not terrible while cruising and when i really rev it i can usually get a good crackle too. cherry bomb is just one brand of glasspacks but there are plenty of other ones out there.

What size inlet and outlets are you running? Did you choke it down any or are you running 2.5" pipes after the muffler. That sounds good.

Whatever the size of the stock pipe is what size mine is. The tips are 4" rolled edge. The muffler is a single in dual out setup as you can tell.
