Metra Oe Rear Cam To Aftermarket Adapter

Has anyone used this adapter to get their OEM rear-view cam piped into an aftermarket deck?

I've been dealing with the factory nav b/c I like being able to send destination information through Mapquest, but I'm not paying $30/mo for that feature when my initial free year is over. So I'm going to put my Kenwood 8120 in at some point this summer. If this adapter will feed video from the factory camera, I assume all I will need to find is the reverse trigger.

Not sure about that cable as I don't have OEM reverse but most of the adapters I've seen incorporate a VSS, Reverse and Parking brake signal so you don't have to go hunting. I was looking at a nice adapter that PAC puts out last night that is all inclusive of steering wheel controls, bose, onstar, signal wires, etc... worth the dough to make for an easy install.

Yeah thats the wire it looks like you will need. I have actually been looking for that for my aftermarket Nav unit. I wanted the OEM camera but couldnt hook it up to my aftermarket nav. Now I can! haha good find.

Does the PAC adapter have the illumination and reverse wire capability?

Yes I believe the PAC adapter has illumination and reverse. I know the adapter I have does have those features but I think it was a metra. I would use the PAC if I had to do it over because it incorporates all those things including steering wheel controls in one box I think.

I'm glad you mentioned PAC. The OS-4 looks pretty sweet. I was gonna get the Metra GM-LAN-05 but the PAC looks like it has more features.

The OS-4 does have illumination and reverse output.
