Passenger Door Handle Problem

Hi guys.

All of a sudden the inside passenger door handle stopped working today. The door no longer opens from the inside, but I can open the door from the outside. Unfortunately , since I borrowed the truck to my Dad, I'm not sure what if anything, led to this happening.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm concerned because my truck only has 22,000 miles and is only 2-1/2 years old.

I called the dealer today to make an appointment and I hope it's covered by the warranty.

Haven't heard of this problem yet.

You still have your bumper-to-bumper available, so it will be covered under warranty.

Yea the bumper to bumper should cover it........ I have read about some people that have had the same problem......

Never heard of this happening but my chrome door handles on interior are starting to peel. The warranty should cover it, those are really low miles for an 2007 truck.

Yes they are low miles. I don't drive it much. I just drive it to work. When I traded in my previous truck (2004 Dodge RAM) it only had 28,000 miles.

Could it be the child safety lock? I have my rear doors set that way so my little kids don't accidentally open them. When you open the door, there is a switch to enable/disable it.

Yes they are low miles. I don't drive it much. I just drive it to work. When I traded in my previous truck (2004 Dodge RAM) it only had 28,000 miles.

I'm at 80,000 miles already, but I do drive around and work far from my house.

I have appointment on Saturday. See how it goes. I will keep you guys posted.

So I went to the dealer today and they told me that the door handle is broken. Since the handle mechanism is attached to the door panel, there is no way to replace only the handle, they have to replace the entire door panel. They told me that the warehouse in Chicago has the door panel in stock and they already placed the order for it. It should be here next week. The good thing is it's under warranty. I am concerned about the driver's side now, since the warranty expires in August. Hope that one doesn't go bad! It's weird though, since I rarely use the passenger side door.

Both of the outside passenger chrome door handles broke on our 07 GMT-900s. Very strange but I think the bolt was over torqued at the plant.

Mine is the passenger door inside handle. I was thinking that some one broke it since I borrowed the truck to my Dad and my brother in law was riding in the passenger side. The dealer found the broken piece in the door panel.

Took the truck back to the dealer today. Was quick and painless! Took 15 minutes for them to switch out the door panel! Thank god it was still under warranty, because the service guy told me the panel costs $350! i hope it doesn't happen to driver's side because the warranty's up in August!

had the same exact problem on my '08 3 times. the rod kept popping off the handle, it took them over 2 months to finally fix it, leading to me winning a lemon law suit against gm.
