Cruise Control Problems

I have a 2008 Silverado z71, 5.3, A while back the cruise didn't want to come on. It finally did kick in though, the past few days,, when I drive the freeway first thing,, it won't kick in,, I pull off.. put in park, turn the key off, restart, put in drive and take off, then it will work, no idea what the problem is.. It only does it the first time I try to use the cruise,, my dealer reflashed (or whatever it is called) the computer a while back,, was fine for a few days, then doing it again. One thing I did notice though after they redid the computer, the engine will kick in to 4 cyl. at a higher speed and stay in longer, so I am getting a bit better mileage. Has anyone else had this problem,, I know there was a bulletin out, that is why the redid the computer the first time. What they want me to do now is leave the truck there overnite so they can test it first thing in the morning,, but they don't have a loaner car. Thanks, DAve

TSB is out on the brake switch causing intermitent problems with cruise. Mine had this problem and after 3 brake switches, 2 taillights, 1 BCM, and countless visits it was finally found to be a bad TCM. Next time it happens use OnStar to run a scan on the vehicle right when it happens. Mine was setting codes that they could pull and send to the dealer for you.

Thanks,, the dealer said something about a brake switch yesterday,, didn't even think about onstar doing a scan, tomorrow when it does it, will contact them,,DAve
