How Much $$$$$ Do You Pay For Onstar?!?&#

My trial year is almost over and I'm trying to decide if I should keep it or not.

For $28 a month I will most likely terminate the service though.

I've heard people pay anywhere from $17 to $28 a month.

What are the current deals out there?

Thanks

Mine is $28 a month,But I have the "Directions & Connections" plan,the basic "Safe & Sound" plan is $16

I also keep minutes on the phone,as I do not have a cell phone.

You ARE aware that this is 2010, right? :dunno:

Yep,But I don't need one (Half the people that do have them don't need one :nonod: )

I've been using the Mapquest download to the GPS more frequently lately. But I don't know if it's worth the extra $$. I just can't decide if I want to put my much better Kenwood with Garmin navi in or leave the factory unit in and have the convenience of using Mapquest and Onstar for location entry.

I am paying $12 for "Safe n Sound" for a year with a 6 free months of navigation services.

Yeah I dont have one either, I have Vonage which I take with me when I travel the world, works on any internet service provided. People I call who do have cell phones, never answer their phones, so I figure if you need to get a hold of me, leave me a message on my land line in which I can check my voice messages from any computer by logging onto my account and then I can call you from there.

I think the last renewal was ~$149 (total) for a year for the "safe and sound", so that's ~$12.40/mo.

If my employer wouldn't have given me a phone, I wouldn't have one. I can count on one hand how many calls I've made/received on it.

When my 1st yr of OnStar is over, I will not be renewing. I did the same thing on my wife's Tahoe. When the 1st yr was up, I didn't renew the service.

$12 for the safe n sound. I figure $12 is not bad incase I get into an accident on an isolated road. As far as GPS I have my own so I don't see the need for it.

I just looked on the On-Star website,They list the Safe and Sound plan as being $18.95/month or $199/year (plus tax) for '07-up vehicles,But I'm sure you could talk them down in price if you threaten to un-subscribe!

My subscription is over in July and I'm already getting emails and letters in the mail regarding renewing the service.

I'm gonna call them up and offer $150 for the entire year of Premium Service (safe/sound & directions/connections).

If they turndown my offer I'll cancel the service and get the OnStar system replaced with a in-dash nav system.

I did the same in my last Tahoe.

What is a land line?

A regular phone,you know........before cell phones!

And actually before regular phones they had the "party line" phone system, that was fun!

When my subscription was up and they started to charge me every month $18, I called to cancel. Right off the bat they offered me the same package at $12 a month, but when i still said no, they said we'll give you 6 free months to consider it. Im still thinking "Freely" about it!!!
