Time delay on a/c?

Recommended Posts

Parked the Sub at 9:00 am & went out at 1:00pm to leave work. Hot 85 deg day. The windows were left cracked open to ventilate.

I started up and immediately put the a/c on high blower, max cold, fresh air (to vent out the hot stuff)

I was puzzled that it seemed to take about 5 min before the a/c blew cold. I don't recall ever having it take so long to blow cold. After a while it seemed to blow as cold as usual.

Is there some kind of time delay before the a/c will work?

Thanks.  02 Sub Z71 4x4 5.3 3.73 dif sunroof - not the automatic climate control.

Yeah,  I just developed the same problem.   There is supposed to be a slight delay,  but not as long as we are experiencing.  Mine too blows ice cold after it gets going.  It has been the best ac unit I have had on a vehicle other than this recent problem.  Someone told me today it could be the  ac clutch not engaging in a timely manner.  I am taking mine in on monday and have them check it out.

I have noiticed the same thing with my truck lately, I didn't know if it was just the Texas heat, or if something is actually wrong with my A/C

let us know if they find anything wrong with your A/C

Heat has a big problem with it...  especially if parked in the sun.

The other thing is that if the truck is just idling, the AC compressor isn't spinning fast enough to really get the truck to cool down.

I have better luck driving my truck with the windows cracked a little in order to get it to cool down as opposed to letting it idle with the windows up...

Absolutely...let that huge blower push out the 140 + degree

air and the cabin cools down much more quickly. They don't cool down like the CFC-12 units, but heh. VW has cornered the market on ice-cold, start the engine R-134 A/C. Huge

condensor area.

Have a great one!

Yeah, you guys are probably right,  it is pretty darn hot down in Fla.  we have been hitting 95 lately.  It is working so good after it gets going I can't believe anything could be wrong with it.  I will try the windows down to flush out the heat.   Lucky I have dark tint and use a windshield block.
