Tires And Tune Question

I'm looking at getting knobby tires and a BB tune. Which should come first? I thought maybe the tune would be more accurate if the tires are on first but I could be wrong.

I was quoted $210 for a Cooper Discoverer STT plus tax. So I'm looking at close to $900 for a set. Is that a good price or could I find cheaper?

Also, is the Traditional BB Tune decent? It's the one where you fill out a set of questions and they create your tune based on your answers. Is it better to shell out the extra cash for the EFILive tune or will I see decent driveability increase with the Traditional?

What size tires? I just picked up a set of Toyo Open Country A/T (275/55/20) for $850 otd at America's tires. That sounds like way to much for those tires especially if their '17 tires.

As for the rest of your question, sorry I don't know.

The tires I was quoted on were 265/70R17's.

The Cooper STTs are one of the top mud tires you can buy and their pricing is somewhat reflective. I had a set of 285/70/17s on my truck before the Toyo MTs. I think I paid $840 mounted and balanced.

And definately get your tires before getting the BB tune. The BB tune has settings based on your overall tire size/diameter that affect shift points (and believe me, minor differences are noticible) so you will want all that taken care of before getting your programming done.
