Looking to move there or nearby.

After our current house sells ... however long that will be ...... ? ? ?

Anyway, we are making a July 4th weekend trip there to kinda scout out the place. I want acreage. Wife wants 2 bedroom cookie-cutter with no lawn. Already we are in disagreement. Anyway, need some general guidance as to areas or nearby towns to begin the search(s).

Wifey, who is the main bread-earner, is looking for hospital related work.

Feel free to open post or PM.

Yea

Yea

Yea

I know....I've not visited in a long time.

Life has been full and busy. Still is but I've gone without my "Forum-Fix" for waaaaay to long.

Thanks.............

I'm about 60 miles South and spend alot of time on business in Charlotttesville. For beautiful acreage and horse farms, try RT. 15 or RT. 20 areas just outside of Charlotttesville. Several stars have big horse farms in the RT.15 corridor, Robert Duvall, Sisssy Spacek, Christopher(Superman) Reeves. As for the medical side, try UVA Medical Facility. They have many facilities all over and around Charlottesville. On a side note, Charlottesville does have one of the highest cost of living in the Central Virginia area due to all the $$$ that is made and flowing out of the UVA Medical Facilities.

Thanks for the report.

"high cost of ...."

Darn. :)

Also looking for places to stay.

Or....places to avoid.

Econo$$$ is the keyword.

Is there any UVA Medical in Stauton?

We are not married to C'ville, just a starting point for 50-75 mile radius.

Again, thanks.........

Not sure about any UVA facilities in Staunton. Not much of anything in Staunton. Another beautiful area is Waynesboro which is between Charlottesville and Staunton on I-64. This is the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. This is more of a rural area and does have a few medium size medical facilities. Waynesboro is about 25 miles west of Charlottesville.

I hope rural area means less land cost.

Great info ... keep it coming.

Land should be much cheaper in Waynesboro than Charlottesville. Another nice, beautiful and even more rural area is Elkton which is located Northwest of Charlottesville on RT. 33 West. This is also in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley and the Skyline Drive. On a weather note, the "Valley" is pretty, but they usually get hammered hard in the winter when a winter storm moves in, due to being surrounded by mountains.

looking for medical work....

How about Richmond VA, we mcv-vcu medical center that is the equivalent to uva

we have 12 hospitals in the metro area with plenty of rural and suburban areas to choose from.

the cost of living of the area less than the northern VA and maybe about the same as Charlottesville maybe a little less.

most anything that you would like to do, can be done here in the metro area.

good luck on your search.

Didn't even think about Richmond.

We'll put it on the list.

Maybe even work it in on this weekend trip.

Thanks.........

We'll add Elkton to the visit list.
