2006 Sierra Z71 Drivers Side Speaker Suddenly Comes On?

Hey everyone..

Had this problem since I bought the truck second hand (at 33,000km) and it still boggles me... My driver's side speaker that's in the door will usually be off, and often while driving it will sometimes suddenly come on? If it's dry out it will stay on after I shut the truck off for a few days. If it's damp or becomes damp out it will cut out again? Also the door chime will work when the speaker kicks in or is on, when the speaker isn't working the door chime is very faint and barely heard?? I'm not concerned about the door chime, just wondering whats going on?

Maybe it's a broken wire? or maybe the wire is touching metal somewhere?? Baffled by what the dryness of the air has to do with it?? Where should I begin looking? where does the wire to that speaker travel through? anyone else experience this??

Any info anyone can provide will be of great help and I thank you in advance for taking the time to respond..

Pull the panel and speaker and look around.

Try and see if it works when you have the speaker out.

The door chimes run thru the drivers side front door.

Check the wiper at the window for cracks letting water in the door.

Same issue here some years back on '03 Silv. (Standard AM/FM Radio)

Checked door speaker, it's OK.

Turned out it's the radio.

Note: If you do opt for aftermaket replacement, you'll need the GM Class II Data Bus Interface, in order that warning chimes function.
