Plug Wire Help

I have a 1984 gmc pickup that has long tube headers and my plug wires keep melting all the way through. Any suggestions appreciated.

I am assuming you have 90-degree angled boots going onto the spark plugs, but would it be possible to get a set of straight-boot wires, and get a set of the metal boot protectors from a wire set off of a late model truck at a junkyard?

Mine do the same thing too....thinking of heat sleeving from Jegs
