Took The 09 Denali To The Track! Vid Inside!

Finally got a night without rain here in Miami but conditions still weren't very good. Lots of headwind and nearly 90 degrees was killing everones time. However, my biggest problem was the amount of wheelhop I was getting at launch. I tried various rpms, traction on and off, just didn't make a difference unless I slowly got on the gas.

I think the truck needs drag radials and some headers to get out of the 9's in the 1/8th....

Enough excuses...ha! Here is a run I posted on youtube:

Thanks for the nice comments!

Jenna here are the numbers:

Reaction time .313

60 foot time 2.341

Trap MPH 74.6

Elapsed time 9.596

The 350Z ran a 9.9 sec run. The look on his face was priceless as the big black heavy luxury truck put a length on him and kept it there. It made my night!

Any suggestions in reducing the wheel hop I encountered or good Denali launch techniques??

That's great to see a truck whip up on Z.

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the blackbear tune and what it changed on your 6.2? Did it firm up the transmission shifts?

Thanks,

Bill

Bill,

The transmission shifts weren't really affected because the TCM is not convienent to access from my understanding. That is ok with me though because I love the smoothness of the 6 speed auto. I'm getting to old for firm shifts I guess!

The tune did smooth out some of the roughness and hesitation and the truck does seem to pull stronger. It is just about perfect...though I'd still like a bit more power to equal my 08 G35's performance. I'm hoping headers might help get me there.

I also did the datalog tune to ensure the tune was programmed for my specific vehicle.

Justin was very informative and helpful throughout the process.

Now if we could just address that wheel hopping!!

Try just lowering the tire pressure. You are probably getting a lot of axle wrap too. You could add traction bars. Also, the closer you can get the axls to the frame the better. Maybe remove stock lift blocks. Have fun beating those little cars!

Good tips! Any suggestion for good traction bars for these trucks? I could just see the dealers face now as I drive up with those on....
