Throttle Body Spacers

Someone on an ATV forum was asking about this mod on GM trucks. It seems like the general comment that I have seen was it doesn't do a lot.

If anyone has comments, or actual dyno info, please post it and I will pass it on. Good mod or waste of money?

In theory it's supposed to act similar to a high rise manifold on a carbed vehicle. However, they usually aren't tall enough and because of such only offer minimal velocity increase, so their gain is minimal.

Much like the Helix power coil thingie we spoke of here before, I'd say it'd do more to increase throttle response than give you any actual hp gains.

CMNTMXR81 is right IMO.. I have an AIRAID TB Spacer... I installed it at the same time as my filter and intake so I did notice some power gain but for the most part a big gain on throttle response.. Plus some really cool sound effects

on the older TBI trucks they work great. More low end torque and a little help with the MPG. On the newer ones i have heard many good things about them.

I installed a Helix Power Tower on my truck about 3 weeks ago I do feel it helped. I noticed it more in the low to mid range area, it seems easier to pass a car when the trans kicks down now. Also, on the freeway, I don't have to press the pedal as hard to gain a little speed. I've been told they actually produce more torque than hp, that's why it helps on the low end. It does whistle as various rpm's but it's faint and doesn't bother me when most noises (rattles, squeeks, etc) do. It's not a big gain so don't expect to install it and it feel like you added 20 hp, the gain I noticed was small but it was there.
