Local Shop Suggesting Nitto Trails M/ts

Had a local shop do some work for me today, so I had them give me price quote on tires from them while I was there and they suggested going with the Nitto Trail mud tires instead of the Terra Grapplers. Until today, I had been pretty set on going with the Cooper Zeons LTZs. He says the Zeons are a good tire too, but suggested the Trail Grapplers because they do all the upgrade work for a local Chevy dealer and the dealership has said they love those Trail Grapplers over all the other all terrains they previously put on.

There is tons of talk about the Grapplers vs Zeons, but I didn't see much about the Trail Grapplers.

I think it should be known that I do not go mudding or off-roading in my truck, so whether it is a A/T or M/T tire, it wouldn't make a difference to me for off-road use.

Thoughts?

I am putting Trail Grapplers on my truck in October...I think they are pretty cool. My neighbor stated he has been selling a lot of them the last few months with zero complaints. He has a set on his truck with 15k on them and they look to be at about 75% tread yet. Not bad wear for a MT.

The trail grapplers are a very nice tire. But since you won't be using them for mudding or off roading or anything then it all boils down what you think looks best. The trail grapplers look damn sexy. but so do the coopers. your choice.

I saw them in person today...you'll be picking the Nitto's. The looks of that tire are night and day aggressive looking compared to the Coopers (if that is what you are looking for). Road noise is a bit more than the Cooper's but it really wasn't too bad. I wish I could afford to do it now, but I have to wait a bit to install mine. The shop put a set of them with some wheels that are close to the one's I want on today after they put on my level kit and I was drooling. It looked way better than I ever could have imagined.

I'm gonna get the Coopers here in a couple of weeks. Like you stated above, I don't do much off-roading either.

I think he was talking about the Terra Grapplers?

Pretty positive he was talking about Trail. The trail grapplers are far more aggressive and have a slight road noise. Terra Grapplers have basically no road noise. When I first bought my tires the Trails had JUST JUST come out. I thought they looked so sexy in person and almost bought them but no one had them so I wasn't sure of the performance and didn't want to waste my money so I went the safe route with the Terra's. I regret my decision but pretty sure they may be my next set in the future.

The trails are by far one of the most sexy tires I've seen IMO

Looks wise, you can't even compare the Trail Graps to the LTZ's... those Nittos win hands down. It comes down to sacrificing noise, tire life, and mpg a bit to get those "awesome" looking tires.

I sacrificed... thats why i have the ATZ's... My next tires are either going to be the Cooper LTZ's or the Xtreme AT's.

hahah....gotcha.

These guys are saying the Trail Graps are lasting just as long as some A/Ts.

Hell who knows, with just the 2" RC kit I am pretty happy and thought about just leaving it.

Then again...I'm going to Texas Heat Wave in two weeks, and my thoughts will most likely change after I see all the lifted trucks out there.

Until you see the Trail Grapplers in person, you haven't seen them. A picture just doesn't do it justice. I'm looking at putting 295 55 20's on mine. The tire looks like it would be loud as hell and wear for crap. Driving my friend's truck proved to me at least that they aren't any wear near as loud as I expected. Seeing the wear after the mileage he has put on them makes not concerned about them wearing out quick. I actually use my truck off road quite a bit. Not for ripping it up or anything but for getting to and from hunting property, getting to bike trails and camping. The extra tread will be put to good use. Don't take my word for it. Go see them and talk to a person that has been driving them for a significant period of time. Maybe you will get a different opinion. Let me know...I can't afford to get them until October realistically and my current tires will last through the winter for sure. I'm in no hurry.
