Seo Work Truck Question

Hello all,

Nice forum here - figured you may be able to help me out.

From about 1980 to 1992, our HVAC company used Chevy Trucks w/ service bodies and Vans with a special paint color to set them apart (Sedona Tan- WA8528) from the sea of white service trucks in our area. Ugly color, but it worked visually and always had great results.

Well, long story short; the color wasn't offered for much longer, and since the early 90's we've had white Ford and Chevy service vehicles, in lieu of special ordering the color.

I've finally convinced our company to return to the old color with our new vehicle order this year, and this is where my questions come in.

We plan on buying several 2500HD's and maybe an Express or two.

1. Does anyone know what the minimum order of vehicles is to get a special paint color applied?

2. It's been since the early 90's that we had vehicles upfitted by the factory as well. Does anyone know, if we have the factory send our trucks to an upfitting company (like Knapheid or Reading) if those companies can paint the service bodies to match the cab?

I appreciate any input into this. I'd call our local dealer, but it's very hard to get help from them.

Thanks!

IIRC you have to order at 5 to get a special RPO color.

GM will send the trucks to the upfitter as part of the manufacturing process.

You would need to talk to the upfitter about painting the bodies to match, but I wouldn't think it would be such a big issue.

Here are a couple of links that might help:

GM order guides - has all the options, RPOs, colors, etc: Order Guide (Note - when it asks you to print - it just prints to the screen...)

Upfitter information - Body building manuals, information, contact info, etc: Upfitter

Hope this helps...

Thanks! Just what I needed.

On that note, does anyone have a picture of a truck with the "Doeskin Tan" paint on it? A real-world picture in outdoor lighting is preferred.

Thanks!
