98 Blazer Tach Failing

The tach on my 98 blazer has started to intermittently fail. The engine & tranny are running the same whether the tach is reading zero or reading correctly.

 

I've heard there's a screw type wire connector on the back of the tach....can I tighten this connector without removing the entire cluster? Any other electrical connections to check?
