Shifting Problems!

I have a 2003 2500HD Sierra. When I go to put the truck into drive I get stiffness in the shifter on the steering column. Its stiff all the way from P through R D 3 2 1and back to P

Has anyone had this problem before or might now whats going on? Any responce will be much appreciated.

Sounds like a problem with the shift cable. Corrosion, or kinked routing or melted housing or.....

 

Disconnect the cable at the trans and see if the stiffness is still there. If so, it's cable or steering column shifter. If not, there's something up inside the trans.
