1997 Tahoe Build Sheet Or Limited Slip Info Needed

Hi All. I have a 1997 Tahoe (VIN 1GNEK13R8VJ316254) that I need to replace the rearend gearlube in. Several years ago I was able to get a build sheet for it from the dealer, and it said it had one of the limited slip rearends, but I don't remember which one (of course I've lost the build sheet). Neither the GM or GMC dealers in town can print me a new build sheet. Is anyone on this site able to find it?

If not, how can you tell which limited slip unit it is from the outside? Is the model stamped on the rearend somewhere? The rear housing cover has no drain plug. Thanks for any help.

It would have come with an Eaton G80 mechanical locking diff. Limited slips came in cars. (they both used the G80 RPO code) In 1997 GM used 80W90 gear oil in the diffs. Starting in 1998 GM went to 75W90 GL-5 synthetic. GM says not to use an additive in the G80 locking diff as it could slow the locking mechanism and cause damage.

i just changed my fluid in m,y g80 in a 2003 gmc truck. i put in 75w90 full synthetic with NO FRICTION MODIFIERS. took me a while to find some because the auto parts stores do not carry any. i ordered mine online. i use 2 1/2 quarts total including spillage. next time i am cutting a hole in the bed to make it easy to put in the new gear oil. you can get the fel pro rear cover gasket at auto parts store. japanese cars with manual trannys also require gear oil with no friction modifiers.here is what i used to refill:ENEOS GEAR OIL
