Sub wiring

OK, I'm ordering my subs next week.  2 JL 12 W 6's.  I would be able to order get my amp for about another 2 weeks after that, if I'm lucky on ebay :flag:   I want to try out the subs in the box I've built for the truck.  My question is, will I melt-down my stock deck with these 2 subs wired as the rear speakers?  I can either wire them at 6 Ohms or 1.5 Ohms.  I think 6 would be the safest of the 2.  Just wanna see how the box holds up before I finish it with the paint and carpet.  Thanks in advance

That's a pretty bad idea.  Your headunit doesn't put out very clean power.  You could mess either your headunit or subs up.  How exactly do you plan on testing how the box holds up with giving the subs about 10 watts a piece?

that's what I figured, I wasn't planning on hitting IASCA with it in November or anything :flag:  But thanks anyway! :thumb:

I definately would NOT do it. Like said before the decks signal would be full range, distorted, and too low power and could in fact hurt the subs.
