Has This Been Done Before?

That's an 1/8" (a.k.a. 3.5mm) audio jack below the dash pocket. I used the OEM cassette deck's audio input to integrate it into the factory stereo. There is also a circuit that switches the system between radio and cassette mode. Now, instead of the stereo switching to cassette mode when a tape is inserted, the same circuit allows me choose between radio and iPod. My switch is below the AC controls. The setup works great!

Why? Because I like the factory stereo with its big, easy to reach buttons and I hate leaning halfway across the cab to hit tiny aftermarket stereo buttons (I'm a station surfer). The cassette deck hasn't been used in years and I was getting spoiled driving rental cars with input jacks (for my job). Also, I just like the factory look (and love a good challenge). :D

Nice job. My son and I did a similar setup on one of his buddies car. We ran his phone charge into the little coin holder and his sterio had the AUX plug so we snuck a cord under everything and popped it out of the stereo face plate to plug in. Eliminated all those cords hanging off the face of the dash nicely.
