Hello all,

I'm having a heat issue with my 2002 S10 LS and hoping someone can shed some light on it. I'm not a mechanic myself, though I did have a mechanic have a look at it and couldn't figure it out.

I am getting heat through most of the vents just fine, but the problem comes up when I switch it to the defrost settings. Then the A/C seems to take over and the air turns cold. As I understand it, it's normal for the AC compressor to work while on the defrost settings, but obviously I should be getting warm/hot air coming out. If I disconnect the power to the AC, I get hot air at that point. At the same time they were looking at this issue I got them to put in a new thermostat and a rad flush. They checked the heater core and it wasn't plugged. They just couldn't figure out why there was no heat in the defrost settings.

Again, not being a mechanic hope I described this properly. Would take it to another mechanic but just dropped 1k on this truck and hoping it's a easy enough fix, even something I could do myself. If anyone has some ideas that would be great. If you need more information i'll get it out to you.

Thanks
