Zone 3" Bl With Bilstien Adj. 5100's

I finally got around to installing the Zone 3" kit yesterday. Unfortunatly the rear will have to wait until next weekend. The Fab Fours Bumper brackets are going to need some creative fabrication on my part to make sure the bumper sits in the correct place. I tried to put the bed lift in but the harness did not have enough slack so for the next week it will look a bit weird driving around, no biggie though.

This is exactlly the way I wanted it to sit. Thanks to all for the help on the questions. That front bumper is a pain in the Arse! Everything else was easy.

Front is at 40 7/8's with BALD stock 265/70/17's. 295's are ready to go once this is complete.

What kind of issues are you having? With the front bumper did you remember to trim the tips of the mounting tabs off so they don't interfere with the bumper brackets?

 

To get my bumper perfectly square I used a block of wood and a floor jack to hold it in place while i tightened each side.

 

And what harness on the bed is being troublesome? Post up some info, we might be able to help out.

 

Also, don't forget to us the PA body lift instructions for the spare tire setup.... Zone has you drill a hole which is really stupid... lol so dont do that!

I did not trim the tips, never knew about that.....Damn it....probably would have helped ease some pain! Got it lined up perfectly though, with two jack stands on both sides and a floor jack in the center. Directions said trim if the bumper would not lower enough, I was having issues with it not raising enough.

 

If I raise the bed without the bumper being raised there is not enough slack in any of the harness's that connect at the bumper. Remeber I have this big arse Fab Fours bumper that will require different setup than stock. I am going to take another look today and see what can be done. I was about 10 into a 12 pack when I was looking last night!

 

I will have to use the PA instructions as the rear bumper is 3/8" soild steel and I am not cutting through that. When I get to work tomorrow I will compare against a buddy's stock rear brackets and make some measurements so this can be done next weekend. Going to have to bring the welder out I am afraid, but then again I love welding.......Hmm where is that recent nerf bar step fabrication thread at?

yeah taking those tips off would have helped a bit.

 

i forgot about your aftermarket rear bumper... not it makes sense. I obviously didn't have that issue because i took off my rear bumper before lifting the bed; so when i put the bumper back on all the wiring fit fine.

hmmm.. its hard to tell from the pics but can you flip those bumper brackets over ans swap them side-to-side to raise the rear bumper??

That is a sweeet looking bumper man!!

 

Some aftermarket rear bumpers just don't look right. That thing is perfect... it has a stock but "bulletproof" look. I'd hate to be the person who rear ends you!

Thanks, one look (and accident, remeber the officer and daughter that hit me last year?) at the factory bumper of these trucks and it convenced me to get this one instead.

 

I like it because it has the Avalanche like rear corner step pockets that really help getting the kids up in the back for stuff.

 

The bumper also has 1" tow points and comes with a recover kit that included two rear shackles and a 30 foot 6" wide tow strap. It has come in handy many time to recover buddys from places they shouldnt have been.

I figured the rear wiring out (had to remove all the harness clamps along the back upper portion to get enough length).

 

43 1/4" to fender

 

All I have left is to get the bumper figured out and reposition the exhaust. Calling tire shops this week for mount and balance deals.

What 295's did you end up getting? I'm guessing if you're sticking with the stock 17's you're gonna go with Trail Graps, Terra Graps, STT's or Toyo's since I think thats the only tires that come in a 295/70/17. IF thats still what you're going with....

 

I'm thinking of doing 1.5" BL and 295/70/17's on my next set of tires. Definitely in for finished pictures though
