Go Rhino Dominator Side Step Pads

I ordered my Dominator II black side steps, and they come with the chrome step pad. I didnt want chrome, so I ordered a 2 sets of black step pads directly from Go Rhino so I will have 2 pair of chrome step pads that will be brand new. The pads bolt onto the step bar.

I paid $40 + shipping for the pads from Go Rhino. I will sell my new chrome step pads for $35 shipped to the continental US.

The steps should be here Wednesday according to the tracking number, so I can ship out the steps on Thursday.

I'm about to order the same steps. I don't like the chrome step pads either. My plan was to take them off if they came off, scuff them and spray them with 3M rubberized coating, or some sort of line-x similar spray. I've never seen them in person, think that would work? Also, I can't find any black step pads on the go rhino site....?

I called and ordered some extra brackets and the channel that is welded to the tube so I can add an extra support on mine to make sure they don't flex. Cost like 25 bucks for 2 brackets and channel + fasteners.

The extra brackets are just like the ones that come with it. Under the front door, there are actually spots to mount more brackets than they send with it. I am just gonna use one of them. Nut is already welded in from the factory. If you wanted to, you could actually put 5 or 6 brackets on the bar, as there are that many places to mount them under the truck already. Some you would have to drill 1 hole, as the tab on the rocker pinch weld is there, but the hole isn't.

The vertical bracket they sent is also already powder coated. The only thing that is bare steel is the channel that has to be welded to the bar. Once I weld it, I have a local guy I am gonna get to recoat it. The channel is slightly different than the ones they weld on tho, as thiers is cut out to make it easier to install the bolts, and the extra they sent me isn't. Bolts can still be installed tho. I am actually considering welding some metal to the brackets they put on to make them just like the extra channel they sent, as it will completely hide the bolts, where as the ones they install at their factory let you see the bolts from the side of the truck.

I am also gonna figure out what to do about the way they have you mount the brackets under the back door. It mounts to the vertical panel above the rocker panel, and they give you a u-nut to put in an existing hole. The problem with that is the plate doesn't sit flush against the pane, it sits on the u-nut. They should have put an indentation in the bracket for the u-nut tab so the face of the bracket touches the rocker panel 100%, instead of just on the u-nut tab. It does work, but instead of the force being spread over a 4" x 5" area on the panel, it is only on the 1/2" x 2" area of the u-nut tab. it would spread the load out over the panel a lot better.
