Edge Evolution Has Tcm Support?

Recommended Posts

Whats the deal with this? I am talking to a guy selling the evolution programmers for 08 silverado 5.3 and hes saying no TCM support. Then i e-mail Edge directly, and guys telling me they make changes to line pressure and shift points for the 07 08 just not the 6-speed stuff.

Then i read that theres others like SCT and more and really its just diablosport that doesnt tune the TCM??

Can anybody clear this up? I want a hand held so thats where im at, I do not want to deal with EFI live simply because I dont care. I just want to get rid of some of this "torque management" and have the capability of tuning for different size tires and gears. If i get 5HP out of the deal great, if not i dont care.

Right now i was about to go wih the SCT unit and w4me tune, but honestly the edge evolution looks a hell of alot better, and if they are tweaking the tranny parameters and allowing for me to adjust gears and tire diameter then its all i need.

Why not get the Superchips Cortex? I'm pretty sure that tunes the 6spd trans....

heh cuz i dont have the 6-speed i'm an 08. I just remember lookin at in here a year or so ago and everyone was saying wheatley, blackbear, w4me, or buying efi-live or hp-tuners is the only way to get your tranny tuned.

Now a good while later i decide to look again and it seems like they all do the 460le with exception of the diablosport?? Just trying to get some clarification. I like the idea of the SCT and w4me tune, but i also like the the looks flexibility of changing a couple parameters with the edge evolution, vs using the SCT as simply an upload tool.

I had one on my 08, and yes it does have tcm support. Firm shifts thats for sure. there is no changing shift points, but yes it does firm them up a bunch.

And yes, you can change your tire diameter size, and gear ratio.

I honestly loved that programmer.

thanks alot thats wat i wanted to know. Did it do it normal driving or just when your driving hard or wide open throttle.

Right off their website.

"Features are limited on the 6-speed transmission. Product does not adjust transmission parameters and allow custom settings."

:D I thought some of the 08 5.3's had the 6-speed and why he was questioning it.

Superchips Cortex will adjust line pressure and shift points for both the 4 & 6 speed transmissions.

I have one I would be willing to part with if interested:

thanks for the link but I dont want to insult you with my offer. I think i prefer the edge over that programmer just for aesthetic reasons if anything. The edge comes with the dash pod and can use the gauges.

I dunno.. It seems that the edge will sort of do what i need but I am not going to pay 300-400 for that crap. Its only 200 more the efi-live or hptuners. I am looking to find a good used one for sale in the 2-250 range. Otherwise ill just buy the real deal shit.

LOL...best of luck buying the "real deal shit" for $200.

Any custom tune with at home changeability will run you at least $500 -$600. If you were going to do that you would not be posting on here scrounging a used handheld for $200.

Plus it was previously stated the edge cannot change shift points. The Cortex can. Everyone has a different opinion of what crap is I suppose.

i have the edge evolution. i liked it in the beginning but since i installed the corvette servo the 1-2 shift is pretty much whip lash and getting annoying real quick. i would sell my edge for a black bear any day i just have to sell the edge first.

I'd sell it to you for $250 Matt. :D

I kind of hate to sell it in a way because overall I am happy with it. But all this Black Bear talk has me feeling like I am missing out on something...LOL
