agreed i wouldnt either, its there for a reason, you might get away with it for a little bit, with a good amount of flex, but itll do more harm than good, either get the right brackets or leave them off

I I remember correctly, only crew cab version GM step bars have a three point mount system with the center support. All others are mounted with one bracket on each end only.

Thanks for the help. My current truck is a 2010 Silverado ext. cab. I've had 2 other ext. cabs, a Chevy and most recently a GMC. This is the first that I want to purchased step bars for due to the 20 inch wheels. The bars that I purchased supplied the center mount support, but the weld on the nuts on the center mounting bolts broke on both the driver's and passenger's side and I can not remove the bolts. The dealer told me that he can drill holes and fix the problem, but he is not sure that waranty will cover. Guess I'll have to have it fixed either way. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I believe that the bars will look good, but also function well to enter and exit the cab.

Thanks,

Gary
