I was wondering if anyone knew how big of a tire I can fit with my oem 20's. I have a 2010 laser blue edition which came with those 20's. Would I be better off getting some 17's or 18's for that big tire look. I was considering swapping a guy plus some cash on his end for his 2007 oem 18's and then I was going to pain them black. If I did that would tire size be any different. I've been looking at General Grabber AT-2's Any suggestions?

P.S. If I have the money in the near Future I was considering getting a suspension lift anywehre from 4-7.5 inches by rough country. Like I said im open to all opinions.

Heres to my first post :D haha

for the most part all stock tires are the same size. 265/70 r17 265/65 r 18 and whatever the 20s are are all the same heighth and width. i suggest you stick with what you have untill you get a lift if your gonna do that. then get different wheels and tires. the chevy 18s look good on a stock height truck. i dont care for them on a lifted one....

Welcome to a boat load of information from everybody here!! Love that color of truck!! Im gonna get some mud grapplers or trail grapplers I do believe, 33/12.50/20's  We have the same rims(i think) I like them, gonna stick with them for awhile. Getting my tires the first of the year with my tax refund. I'm wearing out my tires first I see no need to spend $1400.00 any sooner than I need to...... I am a country boy and don't care about the sound of tires so I'm getting mud tires for sure, plus it looks cool with a lift!! :P

Yep we have the same wheels. I live in edinboro,pa and we have terrible winters and last winter my grand prix had eagle ls2 on it.....I hated them and guess what i got stock with mine haha LS2's so I might trade mine or sell them and get those generals. Going to put a leveling kit to squeeze those 33's in hopefully.

I sold mine for this....2005 GXP with the 5.3 V8 a hell of a car but had to many design flaws....It had flowmaster super 40's 2.5 all the way back and a k&n intake

Thats way too weird my wifes car is a 2008 GXP!!!! I would only let her get something with a V8 and thats what she found and liked so we got it. BTW what design flaws did you run across???

You cant really run an open intake in there because the heat in immense from the engine. Its stupid how the crossover pipe comes across right next to the computer and intake. The tranny is almost too weak for the vehicle too. I was part of the gxp forums and everyone said around 30-50 thousand miles there trannys went i sold mine at 41,000 because it was starting to slip. I hated how the front wheels were bigger than the back haha. I guess its just little things that made me mad about it. The place where i traded mine in at in july still has my car and it looks incredible. Ill have to find a pic and post it. I asked them about it and they said no one has even gotten serious about that car.

I attached a pic of it. I dont have a newer pic of it. The wheels were painted the same color i pushed the exhaust tips back some and put super 40 flowmasters on it. If I would of kept it I would of beefed up the tranny and turboed it

    • Through the years it hasn't been my typical method as I tried to drop oil on an engine that was hot from having been worked, however that was not always practical and had to fire up a unit and let it warm up reasonably well and drop the oil when I had the time to do it but am referring to not only vehicles but a variety of farm equipment and highway tractors etc. However on a vehicle where one is crawling under it and the exhaust is nearby to ones body and if wanting to pull the plug without danger of being hit with boiling hot oil or attempting to remove a HOT oil filter, its sure safer and easier to not have everything smoking hot and can remove the filter right away when under the vehicle and let it all drain. Of course its not the end of the world if a bit of oil stays in the engine that might have eventually found its way out, I like to get out as much as possible but any oil changes that take place in shops would rarely be sitting around for very long at all before the plug is thrown back in and filter slapped on and oil poured in and sent out the door quick like. There would be very little time spent ( assuming they even did it ) in starting the engine with oil to fill the filter, then waiting to verify the level on the stick. A good reason to check ones oil level shortly after a shop changed the oil on a vehicle just to make sure its correct and to look under for any oil around the drain plug or filter.
    • Cool to see another Vermonter!
    • I have changed oil and filter for years by starting a cold engine to warm oil up, let it run 5-10 minutes depending on temperature. Drain until it starts dripping, refill with quantity from owners manual or get it close.
    • I changed the factory fill oil in the rear diff of my truck for the first time today and the miles is close to 9000 on the truck. There was a lot of fines on the magnet, a very thick layer but working it through my fingers it all felt like mush and as most know it appears like graphite, so no surprise chunks anyway. Certainly was time to do it from my thinking and could have been done sooner but the oil didn't look awful but sure wasn't new looking and never expected it to either. I did use some solvent to help me clean out the bottom area of the axle housing, just get any other stuff settled at the bottom washed and wiped out of the housing for the bit of effort it takes. I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 in the easy packs to try out what they are like and I used up 4 packs and didn't spill much at all in the process but did take all four of the packs and go to the work bench and emptied them into a measuring container and there certainly was some in them that added up to something, then poured that into one of the easy packs and squirted in what I could get out of it. I would say the level is within 1/8th of an inch of being level with the threads at the fill plug so just the perfect amount. Once again, more than what GM says the fill volume is but computes with what others are adding to their rear diffs as well.
