Aftermarket Exahust ------> Stock Exahust

Purchased a 2007 k3500 and it came with a cat back dual exhaust and it is to loud for me. I work nights, I am a volunteer fire fighter and drive through my neighborhood at all hours.

 

I want a quieter exhaust with the better stock hangers. The crappy universal hangers are being held together by coat hangers now.

 

Any suggestions?

 

I would like to get the original exhaust but don't want to even know what GM would charge for it. As well as the thing probably weighing a monstrous amount.

 

Thought about going to the exhaust shops and trying to hook a take off, but that may be a rare occurrence.

I would bet that if your a little patient and do a few searches online, some out there replace a brand new factory exhaust you could have cheap. Crips, I couldn't give my factory exhaust away when I switched.

why not try some junk yards and see if you can find a truck similar to yours and just cut the exhaust off? or go to some custom exhaust shops and keep tabs on what goes through?

Find a good exhaust shop. I use a real good one where I live. They have built 4 different system for me. Most recently they built me a 3" single side exit system with a flowmaster 50 series muffler(which is really quiet) for $270. Much cheaper than buying any system. That price included the cost of the muffler. Just find a good exhaust shop and they can build you a system and put a quiet muffler on for a reasonable price.

You could just switch out mufflers... pretty cheap, the dual's are not the source of the noise, it's the mufflers, or lack of them thats making it loud.

go to an exhaust shop and tell them about your issue... you could get a large cased Magnaflow to replace whatever it is you have now and it would quiet down the motor dramatically.
