Navigation Problems

I bought a GM navigation unit (20807044) off of ebay and had it installed. I had the dealer program it to work with my vehicle (2008 Sierra). It mostly works, but it does not give me voice prompts. When I enter the route, it will say "Please proceed to the designated route" but does not say anything until I arrive, when it tells me I have arrived and guidance will end. The GPS also seems to randomly lose its signal, from a few seconds to a few minutes without reason. When it does have its signal, it also does not seem to know the direction I am going and I seem to be moving sideways down the road. Any idea what could be causing these problems? A bad antenna or something else?

Thanks in Advance,

Jon

Sounds like you might have a bad/loose connection in the Vss circuit. When you installed the radio did you have to add one?

Yes, I had to add the VSS.

When I put the navi unit in mine it would show me moving sideways down the road and would be like one street over from where I was. I ended up having to solder my vss connection and haven't had any problems with since. Also do you have any LOC devices on it they to can interfere with that signal.

I don't have any LOC devices on it. Could this be preventing the turn by turn voice navigation as well since it doesn't think I am ever on the actual route?

To me, it sounds like a unit with no VSS wire. If you installed one, I'd check it to make sure it was installed correctly.
