Heated outside mirror insert

I jacked my mirror into a tree while backing up. I bought a

new mirror insert. Does anyone know which way the wires plug in. Is it the orange on top and black on bottom or opposite? It is not labeled on the mirror at all as to what wires go where. Just don't want to rip the other mirror off to look if I don't have to.

Check out JPendlum's web page.  In the lower left corner, there is a link to Tahoe Style Outside Mirrors.  In that link there is some instructions for installing the mirrors, which includes a diagram of hooking up the wires.  I think it asks for a password or somthing, just click cancel, and a word.doc should open up.  

 

If that doesn't help, you may want to contact Jason himself (JPendlum of the forum) or Steside Z, also on the forum here.  He added heated mirrors to his truck not too long ago.  He hasa  few pics here that might be of help.

It doesn't matter, there's no electronics in the mirror heater, it's just a flat coil/grid kinda like the defroster grid on the back window.

I just hooked mine up when I installed them on my truck. I don't think you will have any problems no matter which way you hook them up.

ok guys real dumb question here but after you hook it all up.how do you activate it? do you turn on the heater or turn the switch on the HVAC switch to defrost?i was thinking of putting them on my truck

This is correct. The heated rear view mirrors are activated by the rear window defrost switch.
