Snowdogg Plows

I'm toying with the idea of getting a plow for my 2500. After doing some research I like the SnowDogg HD75. Its seems to be reasonably priced and is stainless steel. I also have a dealer not far from my house. It will only be used for a few residential driveways. Anyone have any experience with these plows?

Thats a BIG money plow because of the stainless !

But its still a oddball plow and I can see parts esp. aftermarket being scarce and $pendy!

Don't let it just being stainless a required option in your

plow selection. Regular steel works as hard and lasts as

long....................

Whats the price? Did you shop Western/fisher or even Meyers?

Myself..... I have always had Westerns and had good luck.

I don't see it being a BIG money plow. It was actually the cheapest I found. Its made by Buyers which I thought was a good company. I have a dealer near me so I don't see parts being a problem, and being stainless is not a required option. I also looked at Western, Boss, Meyers, Hiniker.

Well since you know then just buy it ! Ignore my advise..........

When you need a new motor for it and because its a oddball plow then you pay top $$ dealer retail for it instead of aftermarket at half the price.

Say you need a new plow shoe............Oddball plow=dealer only top dollar part and price. Same deal for a marker flag, hose, relay etc.......... No aftermarket support.

Sure stainless blades sure look pretty but they run $500 or more on a western, fisher etc. so its odd that a Buyers in stainless is much cheaper in price.

I would not purchase that plow, even if it I was not in the snow removal business. I see they have some sort of wing swing design that is optional, I wonder how long before thay would start to have problems. Sonjaab is correct about when it comes to parts, I can walk into a tractor supply, local napa, ect and find replacement parts for my Western if need be. Not that I needed to yet either since purchasing my Western 3 years ago. There is a reason why you see pra ctically every contractor, and your do it yourself homeowner owning a Western in this part of the NE. When it comes to plowing, never short change yourself because you are saving money on some no name brand plow, you will pay for it over the long term with problems such as break downs, freeze ups, ect. Plows are built and designed much better these days then say 10 years or more, and Western, Fisher, Blizzard are all priced fairly the same each class of plow. Western actually owns Fisher and Blizzard which would make Western the big brand. I can also vouch for their paint that it is very good quality and I have yet to see any bear metal with the exception of the scrapping edge and back drag edge, it has held out very well over the years and continues to do so. FYI, Western makes a homesteader blade for homeowners which I am sure will suit your needs if saving some $$$$ is an agenda for you. A nice looking plow is something I consider a bonus, not a must have.

i have one and i like it...ive had it two years and havent had any problems except a couple blown hoses but that was because of the install and they were only like 18 bucks... the only thing i dont like about it is its not that easy to connect to the truck but other than that it blows a meyer or western outta the water its def. a professional grade plow

I have a feeling that Meyers may be the manufacturer of that plow, but am not 100% sure. It blows Western out of the water? Obviously you never owned a Western fella. I never had a hose fail yet on my Western. Matter of fact, I have yet to have anything fail on my Western. It takes me under 30 seconds to connect my Western to my truck, my Western is very simple to connect, unlike your so called plow. And I can gurantee you, that plow will not out perform my Western pro-plus (I've seen videos of it in action) and it plows like my older Meyers I had and stacks just like it too. That plow doesn't hold a candle to a Western pro-plus. There is a reason why my plow cost close to $6k and that off brand costs much less.

just to throw in my 2 cents i have a meyer it takes forever to hook up but once its connected i have had absolutely no problems with it.... its not a MASSIVE plow with the wings and fancy stuff like yours Hen.... but its a nice plow and its still in good shape for being like an 01 02 plow

the hose issues were because the guys who installed it were retarded..its built better and will last way longer than a western....its a heavy duty commercial grade plow, the only better plow out there is a boss

Son, I'm not sure what your intentions on this board are, if you are here to be a troll and make stupid statements you've came to the wrong place. You obviously know nothing about plow brands, probably same goes with plowing itself. I've seen the videos online of this newer affordable off brand plow in action, it leaves some horrible trails, and can't even come close to the way my Western Pro-plus stacks. In the snow plow brand food chain, Western is the biggest. They own Fisher, Blizzard, and ofcoarse Western snow plows. If you think you can go out and purchase a saltdog plow (which most contractors never even heard of until recent) and make statements as to it being the best plow out on the market and then come to this board and make foolish statements in front of professionals, then either you are here to be some kind of troll, or aren't that bright of a person. In conclusion, I've plowed with Meyer, Fisher, Western, Boss, Curtis, and Blizzard plows. There is a reason why I exclusively use Western Pro-plus snow plows. I also did not buy my Western Pro-plus because it was affordable either, I could buy two of your saltdogg plows for the price of a 8.0 Western pro-plus. Western and Fisher also have stainless steel blades and a nice 2 year commericial warranty to back their product up.

You'll have to find another snow plowing forum to blow smoke in, cause I for one can see right through your little smoke cloud pretty easily.

lol the douglas dynamics group of stuff isnt bad but i owned a buzzard 810 and i hated it...never used a fisher which i would guess is just like a western which is built no where near as strong as a snowdogg..meyer is junk and curtis's are ok but like most others they are not built heavy...and of course boss is the best...ive used em all and smashed em all to pieces.. except snowdogg and boss, they actually hold up

Its funny that the older guys on the plowing sites comments on Meyer plows are "You either swear BY or swear AT a Meyers" !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like someone is using a snow plow for additional purposes, say bulldozing? In all my years of snow plowing, i have never seen anyone smash their blades up. I've seen rotted blades, blades that were stored outside all year round, never cleaned off and eventially decompose over time. My Western blade is one of the strongest blades, the design of it, and heavy weight of it makes it a superior peice of snow moving equipment. The paint has no chips on it at all and imo is superbly finished in one tough paint job. I had Meyer blades that would chip after first season and had to touch them up every season, but never with my Western yet (going on 4 now). If you are smashing blades up, I can only imagine how careless you are when plowing. Yes there is always the chance of hitting a curb when plowing, but to smash a blade up? You would have to hit that curb at a decent speed.

As far as your opinion about Western all i have to say is go to their site and look at the specs of the blades and you will see why Western is way more superior then saltdoggy was it? I suppose if you were to ram the western into a block wall enough times, it might start to dent it some, but it is one hell of a HD blade. And the hydraulic pump is excellent on it.

lol this conversation is useless.. obviously it would be super hard to bend a actual blade its curved to absorb energy specifically so it wont bend but i digress. im talking about bending a frames, breaking angleing rams,seizing solenoids ..all the stuff that happens in real world snowplpowing.. lol oh and by the way i have used my plow like a bulldozer a couple times ..ive moved piles of stone leveled rough dirt and even moved a scrap pile and it looks as perfect as the day i got it..oh and the hydralics are wayyy faster than a western

To have an A-Frame bend, it would take alot of abuse by the operator, whether he is driving too fast while plow, getting hung up on curbs and smashing into shit. An angleing ran, I never had one fail on me, again it would take alot of abuse by operator to break one. Siezed solenoids, yes I had my share with Meyers, older Meyer generation plows. I can only imagine how much stress you are putting on your truck's tranny by using a snow plow as a bull dozer. I will use my blade to back drag 3/8" gravel back onto driveways when the thaw comes. I have a back drag edge on my plow, but it certainly doesn't come close to using a back hoe when it comes to jobs like that.

And again, you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to westerns, if you are refering to westerns older generation plows the difference is night and day between the new uni-mount generation. What would take your off brand plow to plow, it would only take one pass with mine with practically little trail off error to none. Your blade performs like an older gen Meyers is leaves alot of trail offs when pushing snow. It probably trips as bad as older gen's too. Comparing your off brand to western is like comparing apples to oranges, oil and water ect.. The difference between my plow and yours is..It's would not take me all day to plow a Lowes parking lot. You could not plow a 2800 ft private road in only 2 passes, and under 10 minutes (depending on snow depth conditons). And seeing that you use a 1/2 ton only gives you more disadvantages to an uphill battle.
