Sweet.  I am sure you will have a great time.  The first race I ever went to kicked ass, I really had a lot of fun.  Hopefully I will get to make it back to another race here in vegas before I leave.  Have fun!! :nono:

If you are even a remote Nascar fan, you will love the experience  :nono:

Most tracks don't let you loiter long, but try to stand next to the fence as the cars run by...  :thumb:

As much as I like NASCAR I have'nt had the chance to attend one yet. So, have some fun for me. :nono:

Enjoy. And even though it's on TV, a few pic's are always welcome. :uhoh:  :D  :D  :chevy:

John, have a good trip.  It should be good.  Dover usually holds some good races.  I'd suggest buying one of those headset radios at one of the souvineer trailers at the track.  They looks like the ear muff style hearing protection, but have a built in radio.  It's great for listening to the race broadcast on the radio.  A lot easier to keep up with what is going on during the race.  Especially after they start pitting.  Me and dad rented a scanner once before, and it was ok, but I thought the radio was better.  With the scanners, you can listen to the teams talk back and forth.  The last time I checked, those headset radios were like $25-$30.  I've got 2 that we've had for about 12 years now, and they still work great.  :thumb:

Hey Gun, can I borrow your Hooters Girl for the day?

Thanks for the advice Tom. I will pick one of those up. Do they also work as hearing protection? By the way I am going to be in section 221, row 8. I hope they are good seats, but looking at the chart I am thinking they may be a little low. I will have pics Sunday night for all to see.

Yep, they work as hearing protection too.  They are not quite as good a legitimate hearing protection, but they keep the sound in so you can hear the broadcast good.  Of the 11 different track I've been to, Bristol was the only place that it was hard to hear them in, which I knew before hand.  Bristol is one loud b*tch!  :nono:  :thumb:

Last year was my first Winston Cup race as well (Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord NC).  I was already a big Nascar buff, but after that race....I was seriously hooked!  Everything is faster, bigger and better (to sum it up).  If you can,  get some radios (scanners).  My friends that I went with had them and they made the race even better.  Gives you an inside angle as to what is going on with any driver & his team.  You can listen to your driver(s) during the entire race...very cool IMO.  They also work as good ear protection as mentioned, but if you dont have a headset, I would get some ear plugs.

The best experience of the track was walking down to the fence on the long straight section.  They literally sound like missles when they go by.  I was shaking at the knee's after experiencing that...  :thumb:  :nono:   Most tracks wont allow you to stand at the fence, but it can be used as a walk way...so go down there and walk at a "very slow" pace.   :uhoh:

Have fun!

If youre going alone youre sure to have a good time... If youre taking your female companion along better get some kinda ear protection for her... Just as insurance youll still have a good time... At least thats what I found in my case... Its great to have em along for everything as long as youre prepared. I made the mistake of taking my girl along to the Casino magic 500 IRL race at texas motor speedway last year.. she sat the whole time with her hands over her ears...   Of course I felt bad cause she wasnt enjoying herself... I was in the doghouse for the entire drive home...

Well guys I can now say that if you have never been to a race but have the chance, GO. I will post pics this week. That was the greatest fun I have ever had. Now I understand why so many people go. When you leave you have pieces of tire on you and smell like exhaust. TV does no justice on how quickly things happen on the track.
