What Type Of Leveling Kit?

I'm in the market for new tires on my 07 1/2 Sierra SLT with 20" rims. I've got 275/65/20 Pirelli Scorpions on it now and I'm looking for something a little more agressive in the tread department. I don't do a lot of off road stuff, but we do have a farm that I'm on a good bit and I don't want to get stuck. I got stuck 3 times in 2 weeks with my old Silverado (07 1/2 too but not 4X4) and I swore never again. I also don't want a loud tire and lifespan is important too.

I figure that in order to get an agressive tire in a 20" I'm going to have to do some kind of a lift even if it's just a leveling kit. So, I started looking online for a leveling kit for my truck and I found several types. I found a Strut Extension Leveling kit (~$230) and a Torsion Key Leveling kit(~$230). I also found a Zone Offroad Leveling Kit (~$70) and a Truxxx Leveling Kit (~$110). What's the difference between these leveling kits and why the wide range of prices?

Thanks guys,

Mike

Is your 07 silverado the gmt-800 (classic) or gmt-900 body style? If you have the 800 then you could consider cranking the torsion keys. If you have a 900 then your truck dosent even have torsion bars so thats not an option

You can get a rough country 2" level for somewhere in the range of 60-70 bucks. Easiest one to install, takes about 45 minutes with a beverage break now and then.

If yours is the new body style, then yes, its the 900...which doesn't have torsion bars...so don't even look at those type of kits. Rough Country is probably the most commonly used kit on here. They're cheap and easy to install. I went with a Zone Offroad 2" f/r kit because I wanted rear blocks too. The Zone kit is the same design as the Rough Country. With any leveling kit, I think it's best to not go higher than 2".

Yeah, I don't want a super high lift (my sons would love it though!!). If I have to go up in the rear to get the tires under it, 2" is about all I'd want to go. Thanks guys!!
