My buddy and I had the last drag races of the season with our cars and decided to run our trucks against each other next week just for the fun of it. We both have '09 1500 LT Crew Cabs with Z71, 5.3L Flex, and the six-speed. He has a 2LT package and I have a 1LT. He has the 18" Z71 rims and I have the 17" ones. His truck is bone stock, mine has a Dynomax cat-back, Airaid MIT, and K&N drop-in filter.

 

I will post the results, but we wanted to get some feedback on the best way to run down the track with these trucks, specifically:

 

1) Traction control on or off?

 

2) Leave the trans in auto or manually shift it? If so, what RPM should we be shifting at?

 

3) How should we launch? Hold the brake and stall the engine up to a certain RPM?

 

4) Should we air down the rear tires at all?

2) Leave the trans in auto or manually shift it? If so, what RPM should we be shifting at?I left mine in auto since the shift speed is so slow

 

3) How should we launch? Hold the brake and stall the engine up to a certain RPM?Both feet to the floor.

 

4) Should we air down the rear tires at all?I aired down the rears to 30 after trying 35, times came down slightly. I may try lower next time.

Sorry, guys, we never got to do it. Work and family schedules got in the way! Thanks for the input though, and maybe we will get around to it next season.
