Lower Bumper Painting

as you can see, the lower bumper of my truck is gray plastic and i think this really dresses down the truck, i would like to paint it black to match the rest of my truck and they install fog lights in the recesses. has anyone done this? I saw one guy who did it on one of the 1999-02 silverados with a rattle can and a lot of patience but i don't know how well it held up. im thinking i may tackle the project this summer cause it probably isn't too smart to paint in the winter.

I painted mine black at first with reg. paint and it chipped in badly in a bad rain storm, so I redid it white with some plastic pain, krylon fusion and it's still holding up. I don't have a pic of it white, but I do have a black pic before it chipped like hell.

did you go through all the really in depth steps the first time like wet sanding, adhesion promoter, primer, and a thick clear coat the first time?

No, the first just taped it up and painted away, the second time I sanded it and painted it with plastic paint and it looked so much better, it tough to. It won't scratch like that reg. paint would. But, I didn't use any clear cote, the plastic paint is pretty shinny already, for white paint, anyway.
