4x4 Switch Heating Up

I own a 2007 Silverado 1500 New style

On my dash to the left of the steering wheel there is the selector knob for 2wd, auto, 4h and 4l, well last night I noticed that the knob was extremely hot to the touch. I had it in 4H for a 3.5 hour drive or so... Never really noticed it heating up before (Usually kept the truck in 2H before the snow fall)

Im curious if this is common or something I should be concerned about.

I know that the radio display is common to heat up, but never notices control knobs doing this. The knob to the left (Light selector) was no where near as warm.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 4 wheel selector is on the right side of the steering wheel and has never even been warm and yes it's been in auto and 4wheel drive. I don't see how that would be normal. A swtich is not the same as a radio.

the led lights behind them get hot after awhile, if you run the truck for hours with the lights on, expect some heat
