2005 Silverado P0449 Code

Hi guys,

 

I have a 2005 Silverado 1500, 4x4 had the check engine light come on and occasionally got a Tighten Fuel Cap message on the dash. Had my buddy at the shop hook up his code reader and it is coming with P0449 Error. The machine says "Evap Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Malfunction."

 

He replaced what I believe is the purge valve, located under the hood near the engine. When he cleared the codes, the same P0449 code came back. From what I have been reading it appears that I actually need to replace the evaporation vent solenoid which is located under the truck by the spare tire.

 

Am I correct on this? Does anyone have an idea on a cost for that?
