its a prodigy controller from an 02 ram 2500, and i also bought the connector that plugs into my truck that was posted a short while back from the drawtite website. anyways i checked the brake controllers website and couldnt really find a wiring schematic for the 2500 ram so that i could hard wire that existing wires on that connector to the connector i just bought that plugs into my truck. does anyone know if the wires will match up color for color or am i doing some mixing and matching? perhaps someone with the same controller can take a picture of the back of theirs so that i can compare the wire colors from mine to yours and see if itll match up.

The Tekonsha website will have wiring diagrams for installing the Prodigy in most any truck equipped for using trailer brakes. You can get a GM controller harness from any Chevy or GMC dealer for your truck. The trucks came with the harness if the truck had the towing package from the factory. It even had the big 40A fuse for powering up the 12v pin on the 7-pin connector for the trailer plug.

Tekonsha also has a ready to install "plug-and-play" harnesses where all you have to do is to plug one end of the harness into the Prodigy and the other end into the under dash connector in the truck. Should be available from their website or from any trailer or RV place that sells Tekonsha products. IIRC, they run about ten to fifteen bucks.

Then turn on the controller, set the appropriate gain for the trailer weight and you are done.

ill have to check the website again i didnt see it there last time i was on, thanks for the help, the big fuse is it on the wiring harness under the hood with the wires i need to connect or is it stashed somewhere else?

the only issue is im using a drawtite generic harness that plugs into my truck under the dash, and the prodigy came with a harness for a, 07 2500 ram and i want to splice my harness into that one, the harness i bought just has bare wire ends on it and not a plug to go into the controller. plus the harness is too short, id like to see if i can stick this thing into the dash somewhere or put it somewhere further off to the side where it wont likely get in the way and where the wife wont bitch, lol

When GM provided the controller harness as part of the towing package, the fuse was simply taped to the harness assembly. You had to install the fuse to get the 12v lead powered up. There should be a sheet under the lid of the underhood fuse center that shows where the fuse should go. Should be in the owner's manual too.

Frankly, I would not try to figure out how to connect the wires from a generic harness to a Dodge configuration. The wire colors will most likely be different. Just buy the correct Tekonsha harness for a GMT-800 truck, plug in each end and you are done. You want Tekonsha part number 3015-P The website say the install time is 5 minutes.

good news, i emailed the company a few days back when i posted the question here regarding colors, they confirmed i just match up the colors from the old to the new harness, i guess its all generic, power, ground, controller signal an whatever the hell white does, lol.
