Evap Line Fittings

I have a 2001 suburban with 5.3L lm7 motor in it.

I need to remove the evap cannister, as part of a fuel pump replacment jobsigh.gif.

I have needed to remove the cannister for a long time (ongoing P0446 code), but have tried to remove the fittings at the evap cannister by hand, but have been unable to do so.

Is there any trick to removing these fittings? They are black plastic, and look like they are designed to be squeezed while removing them.

I'll try to post a pic later, but if anyone has words of wisdom on their removal (or fuel pump replacement), I'm all ears....

thanks a bunch,
