Someone can correct me but the new z-71 aren't what they used to be. The new one just have skid plates, different shocks and of course the sticker, the old one nbs and 88-98 had the skid plates shocks and stiffer springs and the sticker. You won't miss anything buying a non z-71 hd, if it makes you feel better you can always buy the stickers and put them on, but that is just my opinion. I have an 09 hd z-71 love it but I hate when you change the oil the skid plate likes to deter some of the oil and hold it and let it seem like you truck is leaking oil for about a week. I know you can notch them or take them off when changing the oil but I always seem to forget about it or just don't want to mess with all the hassle.

well thats what Im looking at a 09SLT 2500HD with towing pack, its got the roof lights but I have not seen the build info, yet he did tell me it had a 3.73 posi, I think the option is like $255 so it can be much that they include

does the bear shit in the woods?

answer yes, i would buy a none z71 HD...because z71 is a status thing nothen more then a decal and a few odds and ends that don't do much

If the truck has the snow plow prep then it pretty much has everything the Z71 would have minus the shocks and stickers....(let's be honest, is there REALLY a big shock difference???) I find it funny how so many option packages overlay themselves in some way or another.....I have the Z71 and HD towing package, add a 165 amp alternator and roof strobe provision and I have the snow plow package......weird.....

I would......Oh wait, I already did. Just buy it. I doubt sometime down the road you are going to be thinking "Wow that Z-71 package would sure come in handy right now". Just buy some Z-71 decals and stick on there if it makes you feel better.

If I were to buy that truck one of the 1st things I would do is remove the Z71 decal! I think the decals look cheesy and on my last 2 trucks I've owned the first thing I did was peel the decals off.

it has the z82 z 85 g80,roof lights and a 160amp but no snow plow pack, I think that has something to so with the climate control conflict that they had on 07's maybe they fixed that on the newer ones

I've never heard of a 2500hd z71, some may come with z71 stickers on them just for the hype, but in reality a 2500hd has the z85 suspension package.

My 09 2500HD LTZ has the Z71 package. It has off road jounce bumpers, skid plates, locking diff, different shocks.

then this SLT is missing the Jounce bumpers ,different type of shock and skid plates it seems.... Oh and I forgot the sticker

Your 2500hd says z71 on the rpo code sticker in the glovebox?

I will check glove box later. However from chevy website, building a 2500 LTZ in 2011, and I remember same in 2009 it says Z71 Includes 35mm deflective disk twin tube shock absorbers, off-road jounce bumpers, 33mm front stabilizer bar, skid plate package and Z71 decals on rear quarters. Requires trailering equipment and LT265/70R17E
