K&N FPIK

Recommended Posts

Hey folx,

I just ordered a K&N FPIK System for my duramax and would like to ask you if you had any install tips or such advice?

Any help is welcome.

I installed one in a previously owned Ford Sport Trac and it went together pretty good.

Check to make sure you have all of the parts.

Look in the K&N filter box to see if one of the metal clamp rings is in it (I thought I was mising one until I opened the filter box).

The intake tube may have different diameters on each end so make sure you install the correct connector on each end.

I'm not sure if the engine computer has to relearn that a new intake is installed. This may involve unhooking the battery for a period of time and then hooking back up.

Maybe someone else could add info about the computer.

I have a 2002 2500HD and have not found out about the computer relearn yet.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

Thanx alot Kelly. I'll make sure to keep your pointers in mind and report back after the install. I hope it goes smoother than my recent Westin Grill GUard install. I cant seem to be able to centre the GrillGUard. The lower brackets are preventing me from doing so but thats another problem all together.

I would recommend using a nutdriver or socket to loosen/tighten the "hose" clamps.  A cordless drill can make this a 5-10 minute job.

shaners. read that one first. Thanx. Was hoping for some input  on a Duramax install and maybe could give some pointed tips towards that application. Your HOW To is very good and definately will be printed out and lying on the fender when i install the FPIK.

Thanx folx.

No idle relearn is necesarry for a simple cold air induction kit as the MAF will pick up any difference right away anyway and adjust for it.
