Epic Trip

Just finished a 2700 mile trip in 3 days. Drove to Las Vegas with a U-haul autotransport to pick up an E36 BMW M3 convertible. Needs some work and I got a good deal in Nov. I had been concerned taking my truck since it has a 140,000 miles. Been reading here about trans problems. As it works out about a week before the trip I happened to check the tow/haul mode and found it not working. I searched here and found the answer. I hadn't taken the truck back in Nov when I bought the car because it had developed a vibration that was a U joint. I searched here and found a good way to confirm that as well. The truck ran fine all the way there and back. Horrible conditions on the way back with snow and ice on the highway. Needed full time 4X4 a couple of times to get into a gas station. I have been considering buying a new truck but now the truck and I have bonded as it was just us against the elements and we won. (I did this by myself no swamper with me) I guess the question here is how long can I keep the truck before it will start causing problems? OhI used less than a litre of oil for the entire trip. Today I looked at a used truck with 25,000 miles and mine looks in better shape! So any observations, sugestions etc?
