'94 K1500 5.7l Fuel Pump Issue

Been having problems with fuel system. Replaced fuel pump multiple times-each time except the last, the truck would run fine for a while. Truck will start and run as long as I am spraying carb cleaner in the throttle body. Can someone help me know what to check next? I will be scanning the forum to see if I can find something in the meantime. Thanks.

Poor power/ground supply to the pump or a stopped up fuel filter.

Use a halogen headlamp bulb across the power and ground supply circuits to the fuel pump, at the fuel pump

connector, to check the power and ground supply to the pump. Weak bulb = weak power or ground supply.

.. before putting another fuel pump on there, you should check the fuel pressure ... should be 9 to 13 psi on a TBI engine

.. if you can't remember when/if the in-line fuel filter was ever replaced, then get a new one and put it on

.. check the power supply and grounds .. and check fuel pump relay .. as mentioned above

I guess I forgot to mention that the fuel filter is about a month old, relay is about two weeks old, and no fuel from injectors into the TB. I appreciate all the suggestions and will Work in those directions. I will also post what I find.

I have heard that the tps throttle position sensor attached to the side of the throttle body can fail... if so it must be replaced with a new one ... try disconnecting the wiring from the tps and see if the engine will start ... or if you at least get fuel flow in the injectors

.. just a thought, but maybe it will help

Well, I guess that ground my have not been the real problem after all. The fuel pump is not running again. Luckily I was in my driveway this time. I am getting 12 volts to the connector while the relay is on - 2-3 seconds. Am I just getting crap pumps or what? I am just about ready to get rid of this thing.

a problem i had in my 88 silverado TBI was there is a small box thing in the tank that stops sloshing and what not. well that was loose sliding around and would knock the fuel pump out of place or would short it out. i would check that out if i were you changing so many pumps so often. you MAY need a new tank.
