Removing Bottom Radiator Hose On 8.1l Suburban

Recommended Posts

Havent gotten too close of a inspection, but on the first look I dont see any radiator clamp at the radiator side. It appears not to have one and I saw someone post about it having some kind of a clip? Any special tools or techniques to removing this hose? I am doing belts and some squeeky pulleys and noticed something was rubbing the lower radiator hose and I want to replace it.

Really crazy lookin hose.

The lower hose is held on to the radiator with a "horse shoe" style clip. If you use a angled pick, you can grab the clip in the center and pull it out. It is a little difficult to get too. Also, there is no radiator drain. You can empty the radiator part way by removing the resevoir hose and draining as much as possible. That hose actually has three hoses on it....I bet you have to get it from the dealer.

Good Luck!
