Biggest Tire For 2wd Without Rubbing

Would it be a 275? I currently have 245/70/17, but want a little more aggressive one. If the 285 will even fit, what would be better overall (least loss of power, gas mileage etc,): 265/70/17, 275/70/17 or 285/7/17?

I had the 245/70/17's, and upgraded to the 265/70/17's. There is a little room, but I didn't want to push my luck!

As for mileage the bigger the tire is the more rotating mas you have; thus the truck has to work harder to get you going, and to stop you as well. I would go with the 265's.... jm2c

kawtoy_77,

I looked at the pictures you have up of your 2007...are the Destination tires I see the 265/70/17's you were talking about? If so, then are they Firestone Destination?

I think 285s will rub without the 1.5 or 2" lift on the front. IMO the 285s look the best, and the rc 2" kit is a cheap and easy. But if you have the 3.42 gears the truck may feel a bit doggy off the line with the big tires.

I do not have Destination tires on my Sierra, I have DynaPro's. They are Hankook's I have 20,000 miles on them now, and still love them. The Destinations looked like too much of a factory raod tire and I drive alot of county roads, so I went with something a little more aggressive. They do excellent on ice.

the 265's will clear with stock height. Not sure about the 275's. the 285's will have some rubbing unless you at least get a 2 inch leveling kit and/or minor trimming.
