Thanks.

He should have a vacuum booster. I know mine does and its an 05. I think only the HDs had hydroboost early on.

Since your truck is a 99 Model, drive by cable, just unplug the MAF sensor, remove the intake tube and spray Sea Foam Deep Creep right into the intake.

That is how I do it . Works great and you are sure to get it to all the cylinders.

Maybe I am slow or something, but are we talking about the Seafoam Fuel additive? IF so, why not just put it in the gas tank or oil; like the directions say.....

"As a fuel system additive, Sea Foam will clean fuel injectors, clean carbon, gum and varnish deposits, add lubricity to fuel, stabilize fuel for 2 years and control moisture.

As an oil system additive, Sea Foam controls moisture, gum, varnish and residue deposits. "

Norseman, why are you spraying DEEP CREEP into the intake? Thats a penetrating oil!? Shouldn't you be using the motor treatment?

It is basically the same thing. Just one comes in a spray can. Look at the MDS.

I have used the seafoam in the vacuum line on all my Jeeps that I had. I abused those things so bad, and the motor was literally the only thing I couldn't break. What I found, was that only do the vacuum line treatment right before your oil change/spark plug change.

My process was get motor up to running temp, slowly add until right before you run out, and the dump it in and stall the motor. Allow to sit for 15 minutes or so. Then restart. Allow to sit and smoke like crazy. If it is the 1st treatment, don't be surprised if a concerned passerby calls the Fire Department. It will smoke like crazy. When the smoke has resided, Change oil, then spark plugs. The motors, for me, ran like brand new.

I also do pretty much the same thing, but if the oil is dirty I save about a 1/3 of the can and dump it in the oil, don't rev the engine or anything while the vehicle is smoking, and after the smoke is clear, you drop the oil and you have cleaned the entire engine. I have seen guys drive for the last 500km with a 1/3 can of S/F in the crankcase, and it doesn't hurt a thing. I used to drive a J-body as did a bunch of my friends when we learned of S/F, we all did 1/3 in the oil 1/3 in the top end, and 1/3 can in a full tank of gas...that cleaned everything nicely....but that was a 4 banger...to do that with a truck you'll likely need 2 cans.

I did this on my 01 S10 last year. It had 124K miles on it so I figured it could use it. I just changed the plugs so I was leary of having to replace them again, but I figured Ide try the treatment anyway. I used one can in the gas, half a can in the intake via the brake booster vac line, and half a can in the oil.

I did like metioned above and added to the vac line slowly until the very last, and then dumped it to stall the engine. Then I let it sit for 30 mins. Thats when I added it to the gas and oil. Then after 30 mins I cranked it and tapped the throttle several times and reved it to about 2k rpm, then took it for a spirited drive revving to about 3500 rpm. After about 10 minutes of that I took it for a 50 mile round trip drive to the grocery store. After that I changed the oil and filter, checked the plugs to make sure they werent fouled, and didnt fill the gas tank until after the light came on. Ran like a champ after that, Increased throttle response and smoothed out the idle.

Seafoam is the only treatment I've ever used that seemed to really make a difference you could feel in throttle response. On my 01 I think I fed it in

the top end through the vacuum line on the pcv valve. When I did it on the 04 I used the brake booster line. Either should work on a 99. I never did the seafoam in the crankcase, but I always used synthetic oil and honestly didn't expect a lot of build up there. Maybe I should have changed plugs, but never did that either and never had a problem...maybe I was just lucky.

I would have someone hold the throttle at about 1500 rpm and put 1/2 a can in a mason jar and allow the vacuum line to pull it in the top end. If it didn't stall out, I'd cut the ignition. I usually let it set 15-30 minutes. The other 1/2 a can went into the gas tank. When I restarted it (especially the 2001) the smoke show was AMAZING. I drove it like I stole it for 10 or so miles. Afterward the idle was much smoother and pickup was much better. It is a great product, and the looks from passers by at all the smoke is priceless.
