6.2l Oil Consumption

I got my oil changed today by my good friend who is a mechanic. He mentioned that my oil was low and asked if my truck's been acting strange or not. It does stall, have a rough idle, and fails to start after stalling. I have taken it to the dealer for those issues and they replaced the cam sensor and checked every other sensor to see if they were working or not. They can't find the problem so I think some engine components might be damaged. I do have piston slap and lifter tick on cold starts. Mileage is at 71K. Always used Mobil 1 5W30 since new.

Are there any other members with these engines that have started to use oil? I know the 5.3s due to the AFM have this problem but didn't think the 6.2s did as well. :P

Every time someone has oil consumption on a 5.3, it gets blamed on AFM, before it has even been checked. I have no idea what it was blamed on for pre-AFM 5.3s, or any of the 4.8, 6.0, or 8.1, etc. motors that have consumed oil "faster than normal". No reason to believe the 6.2 would be immune. Every manufacturer produces some vehicles that burn more oil than "normal". At 71k miles, you still have the power-train warranty, I'd assume?

Hard sayin. Better document the o/c you have done. Had a 350 that burned 1.5 qts between oil changes out of the box. That was 94 and its still ticking. Good luck. Hope you can get an answer.

How low was the oil level? After how many miles? Engines can use oil for a variety of reasons. Some people have changed oil brands, or gone to 10w-30 and have reported success.
