Long Range Towing Question

Hey everyone,

There is a chance I will need to tow a large 1980s full size van ~470 miles in a few weeks and I wanted to know if I should use the transmission's tow/haul mode the entire trip or if I should turn it off at some point? Are there any other tips I should know before I attempt this since this will be the first time I tow something this large for so many miles?

Thanks

If your transmission is shifting alot, then use it, otherwise it's not overly necessary. It bumps up the shift points to help maintain your RPM's in the power band and keeps the transmission from shifting in/out of OD while cruising with a load.

Having the Vmax, the van shouldn't even be an issue. :D

Thanks for the quick reply and explaination of the tow mode.
