Gibson Exhaust

Recommended Posts

I just installed a Gibson cat-back exhaust system (single tip) on my truck.  I am sure that I followed the instructions correctly, but I get a weird reaction from my rpms when I hit the 50-60 mph range.  It almost sounds like the truck bogs down.  If I punch the gas, then it picks up nicely, but its just when I am "cruising" at 50-60 that it happens.  Any suggestions on what it can be?? I did not experience this with the stock exhaust on.  Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Thats very strange.   I doubt it has anything to do with the exhaust if it was installed correctly.

Its a long shot, but did you accidentally damage any of the O2 sensors at the Y pipe?

The problem may also go away as the PCM learns the exhaust flows easier.

It's learned programming has a certain amount of volumetric efficiency that the engine moves throughout the RPM range, load, throttle position, etc, etc.  Your change of the exhaust altered this, therefore allowing the engine to breath a little easier.  It's probably just confused at that point until it learns it.
