jakehough Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 i tried searching for a answer but did not find one. i have a 2002 gmc sierra with a 5.3, it has 120,000 miles on it and there is a ticking noise coming from the motor that sounds like lifters but when you exceed 2,000 rpms it sounds like a slapping as well as the ticking. has anyone had a similar problem? can it be fixed reasonably? or am i better of with having it rebuilt or a different motor?
jwh463 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I have the same thing on my 5.3l 2003; clicking from about 1900-2300 rpms then it goes away. I have 93k miles. Tried everything additives, sea foam...I run nothing but Mobil One. Looking for a solution too
Georgebaumann Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 yah my truck has 86000 has the tick to but im not to worried about it. if the engine goes it goes. that just gives me the excuse to throw in the 6.0
