I just purchased a 1999 Chevy K3500 4wd dump truck with the 6.5 turbo diesel. The DOT inspection revealed rot on the front cross member where the lower control arms mount. I am trying to do my homework before contracting the work. I haven't been under the truck due to excessive snow in the yard. I am looking for a part number and diagram. Is this a bolt on part or is it welded?

Here is a diagram http://www.genmotorinfo.com/FullImage.aspx...Frame+-+TK07007 it's part #3. I'll get a part number and repost.

Came up with part number 12388900, You need to take your VIN to a dealership to make sure beacuse 1999 is a carry over year like 2007 is for the 1500, There are two body styles that year, this number is for the 1998 style it costs around 300 and bolts in, Hope this helps :P:lol:

Original cab and chassis. Not sue the tranny. I will get build sheet from dealer.

Thanks for the reply.

I added some info and part number to my first post

I had a chance to look under the truck yesterday. It appears the damage is more cracking than rotting. Aggressive plowing most likely. One side can probably be welded. The other side might need a gusset plate.
