Navi Not Working And Dealer Says Impossible

I recently purchased a gm factory navigation hu off ebay and hooked it to my truck. The typical theft lock screen came up as expected, so I went to my dealer and told them my situation. After paying $96 I get my navi unlocked but it still doesn't work and the dealer says it isn't compatible with my truck. Now when you turn on the key the screen comes up and says GMC Bose etc and goes to a blue screen with 2 white dots in the center and none of the buttons are responsive. What is the problem?? Supposedly the Nav unit I bought came out of a 2010 or 2011 sierra. I have a 2007 Sierra with bose. Is this navi compatible with my truck or not? Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks :rolleyes:

The two dots are the clock screen, I think when it gets the sat link it sets the clock. You did put the Nav antenna in right ? As far as nothing going on with the buttons the dealer might have to set the nav up with there tech ll and TIS web for it to function correctly. There is a few choices they can make for Premium Bose or just Bose . With the premium Bose setup it has something to do more with the BCM controlling the amp where the Bose is just low level out from the radio to the amp. My truck had no Bose or amp and it was a real pain to install the Nav and get it working . Put your vin # in this and find out what sound system is in your truck.... Vin look up

Assuming the unit you purchased is not faulty, then it should / will absolutly work. If the dealer is telling you they cannot do it, I would take them at their word that they cannot and take it elsewhere before you run up a big tab. Any GM dealership can do the programming, so call around until you find a place that is clear that they know how to do it. The jist of it is that you need to use a VIN that had a NAV and use that VIN to open the correct options in the Tech-II. Even if you have to drive a little ways, you'll be much happier having someone who knows how to do it correctly do it once instead of havigng someone that doesn't do it wrond 3-4 times.

Make sure you install the antenna and VSS wires also.

The full navigation kit installation time in the GM Accessories Catalog is 1.5 hours. This includes the VSS, Head, and antenna. This

is for a install of kit 19244269 in my 2011 3500HD Silverrado. Portland, Oregon area. My dealer said install is no big deal, plug and play with minor Tech II.
